{"id":315,"date":"2015-05-21T20:59:32","date_gmt":"2015-05-22T00:59:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/orthodoxinsight.com\/?p=315"},"modified":"2015-05-21T20:58:48","modified_gmt":"2015-05-22T00:58:48","slug":"friday-may-22-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/orthodoxinsight.com\/?p=315","title":{"rendered":"Friday, May 22"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #165916;\"><strong>Orthodox Daily Devotional<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Scripture Reading<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>JOHN\u00a0 9: Now as <em>Jesus<\/em> passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. <sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>And His disciples asked Him, saying, \u201cRabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?\u201d<sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus answered, \u201cNeither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. <sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; <em>the<\/em> night is coming when no one can work. <sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.\u201d <sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. <sup>7\u00a0<\/sup>And He said to him, \u201cGo, wash in the pool of Siloam\u201d (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing.<sup>8\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore the neighbors and those who previously had seen that he was blind said, \u201cIs not this he who sat and begged?\u201d<sup>9\u00a0<\/sup>Some said, \u201cThis is he.\u201d \u00a0Others <em>said,<\/em> \u201cHe is like him.\u201d He said, \u201cI am <em>he.\u201d <\/em><sup>10\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore they said to him, \u201cHow were your eyes opened?\u201d<sup>11\u00a0<\/sup>He answered and said, \u201cA Man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, \u2018Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.\u2019 So I went and washed, and I received sight.\u201d <sup>12\u00a0<\/sup>Then they said to him, \u201cWhere is He?\u201dHe said, \u201cI do not know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Orthodox\u00a0Wisdom<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>For the devil, in his envy of the human race, assumed the guise of a serpent and spoke to the woman, and from the woman he instilled his poison into the man. They died by listening to the devil, who they would not have listened to had they but listened to the Lord. For man [humankind], having his place between [God], who created, and [the devil], who was fallen, should have obeyed the Creator, not the deceiver. Therefore \u201che was a murderer from the beginning.\u201d Look at the kind of murder he did. The devil is called a murderer not as armed with a sword or steel. He came to humanity, sowed his evil suggestions and killed him. Do not think then that you are not a murderer when you persuade your brother to evil. If you persuade your brother to evil, you kill him.
