What is your reading of it?\u201d<\/dd>\n<dt>27<\/dt>\n<dd>So he answered and said, \u201c\u2019You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,\u2019 and \u2018your neighbor as yourself.\u2019\u201d<\/dd>\n<dt>28<\/dt>\n<dd>And He said to him, \u201cYou have answered rightly; do this and you will live.\u201d<\/dd>\n<dt>29<\/dt>\n<dd>But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, \u201cAnd who is my neighbor?\u201d<\/dd>\n<dt>30<\/dt>\n<dd>Then Jesus answered and said: \u201cA certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.<\/dd>\n<dt>31<\/dt>\n<dd>Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.<\/dd>\n<dt>32<\/dt>\n<dd>Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side.<\/dd>\n<dt>33<\/dt>\n<dd>But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion.<\/dd>\n<dt>34<\/dt>\n<dd>So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.<\/dd>\n<dt>35<\/dt>\n<dd>On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, \u2018Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.\u2019<\/dd>\n<dt>36<\/dt>\n<dd>So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?\u201d<\/dd>\n<dt>37<\/dt>\n<dd>And he said, \u201cHe who showed mercy on him.\u201d Then Jesus said to him, \u201cGo and do likewise.\u201d<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"abraa\" data-offset-key=\"a1muj-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"a1muj-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"a1muj-0-0\">Orthodox Study Bible Notes:\u00a0 Jerusalem is the place of peace, symbolic of communion with God. Jericho, on the other hand, was renowned as a place of sin. Falling among thieves speaks to the natural consequence of journeying away from God toward a life of sin. Titles and positions are meaningless in God\u2019s sight when good deeds do not accompany them: \u201cThe dignity of the priesthood means nothing unless he also excels in deeds\u201d . That the priest and the Levite do not help the man also indicates the failure of the OT Law to heal the consequences of sin. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"abraa\" data-offset-key=\"ebk4r-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"ebk4r-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"ebk4r-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"abraa\" data-offset-key=\"a1uk3-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"a1uk3-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"a1uk3-0-0\">The Samaritan, while a despised foreigner, is an image of Christ. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"abraa\" data-offset-key=\"30mkc-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"30mkc-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"30mkc-0-0\">The bandages, oil, and wine are sacramental images for (1) the garment of baptism, which delivers us from the wounds of sin; (2) the oil of chrismation, which gives us new life in the Holy Spirit; and (3) the communion of the divine Blood, which leads to eternal life. His own animal indicates Christ bearing our sins in His own body, and the inn reveals the Church in which Christ\u2019s care is received. He pays the price for that care.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"30mkc-0-0\"><\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"30mkc-0-0\">Monday<\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"30mkc-0-0\">\n<p>2 Corinthians 1:\u00a0\u00a0<span class=\"text 2Cor-1-3\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3\u00a0<\/sup>Blessed <i>be<\/i> the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28805\" class=\"text 2Cor-1-4\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4\u00a0<\/sup>who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28806\" class=\"text 2Cor-1-5\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5\u00a0<\/sup>For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28807\" class=\"text 2Cor-1-6\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6\u00a0<\/sup>Now if we are afflicted, <i>it is<\/i> for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer. Or the things I plan, do I plan according to the flesh, that with me there should be Yes, Yes, and No, No? <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28819\" class=\"text 2Cor-1-18\"><sup class=\"versenum\">18\u00a0<\/sup>But <i>as<\/i> God <i>is<\/i> faithful, our word to you was not Yes and No. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28820\" class=\"text 2Cor-1-19\"><sup class=\"versenum\">19\u00a0<\/sup>For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us\u2014by me, Silvanus, and Timothy\u2014was not Yes and No, but in Him was Yes. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28821\" class=\"text 2Cor-1-20\"><sup class=\"versenum\">20\u00a0<\/sup>For all the promises of God in Him <i>are<\/i> Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28822\" class=\"text 2Cor-1-21\"><sup class=\"versenum\">21\u00a0<\/sup>Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us <i>is<\/i> God, <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28823\" class=\"text 2Cor-1-22\"><sup class=\"versenum\">22\u00a0<\/sup>who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NKJV-28824\" class=\"text 2Cor-1-23\"><sup class=\"versenum\">23\u00a0<\/sup>Moreover I call God as witness against my soul, that to spare you I came no more to Corinth. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28825\" class=\"text 2Cor-1-24\"><sup class=\"versenum\">24\u00a0<\/sup>Not that we have dominion over your faith, but are fellow workers for your joy; for by faith you stand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Tuesday<\/p>\n<p>2 Corinthians 2-3<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NKJV-28839\" class=\"text 2Cor-2-14\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14\u00a0<\/sup>Now thanks <i>be<\/i> to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28840\" class=\"text 2Cor-2-15\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15\u00a0<\/sup>For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28841\" class=\"text 2Cor-2-16\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16\u00a0<\/sup>To the one <i>we are<\/i> the aroma of death <i>leading<\/i> to death, and to the other the aroma of life <i>leading<\/i> to life. Or do we need, as some <i>others<\/i>, epistles of commendation to you or <i>letters<\/i> of commendation from you? <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28844\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-2\"><sup class=\"versenum\">2\u00a0<\/sup>You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men; <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28845\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-3\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3\u00a0<\/sup>clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, <i>that is,<\/i> of the heart.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text 2Cor-3-4\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4\u00a0<\/sup>And we have such trust through Christ toward God. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28847\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-5\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5\u00a0<\/sup>Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as <i>being<\/i> from ourselves, but our sufficiency <i>is<\/i> from God, <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28848\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-6\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6\u00a0<\/sup>who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit;<sup class=\"footnote\" data-fn=\"#fen-NKJV-28848a\" data-link=\"[&lt;a href=&quot;#fen-NKJV-28848a&quot; title=&quot;See footnote a&quot;&gt;a&lt;\/a&gt;]\">[<a title=\"See footnote a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=2%20Corinthians+3&amp;version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-28848a\">a<\/a>]<\/sup> for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Wednesday<\/p>\n<p>2 Corinthians 3<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text 2Cor-3-7\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7\u00a0<\/sup>But if the ministry of death, written <i>and<\/i> engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which <i>glory<\/i> was passing away, <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28850\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-8\"><sup class=\"versenum\">8\u00a0<\/sup>how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28851\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-9\"><sup class=\"versenum\">9\u00a0<\/sup>For if the ministry of condemnation <i>had<\/i> glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28852\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-10\"><sup class=\"versenum\">10\u00a0<\/sup>For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28853\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-11\"><sup class=\"versenum\">11\u00a0<\/sup>For if what is passing away <i>was<\/i> glorious, what remains <i>is<\/i> much more glorious.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NKJV-28854\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-12\"><sup class=\"versenum\">12\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech\u2014 <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28855\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-13\"><sup class=\"versenum\">13\u00a0<\/sup>unlike Moses, <i>who<\/i> put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28856\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-14\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14\u00a0<\/sup>But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the <i>veil<\/i> is taken away in Christ. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28857\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-15\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15\u00a0<\/sup>But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28858\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-16\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16\u00a0<\/sup>Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28859\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-17\"><sup class=\"versenum\">17\u00a0<\/sup>Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord <i>is<\/i>, there <i>is<\/i> liberty. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28860\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-18\"><sup class=\"versenum\">18\u00a0<\/sup>But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Thursday<\/p>\n<p>2 Corinthians 4<\/p>\n<p class=\"chapter-1\"><span class=\"text 2Cor-4-1\">Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28862\" class=\"text 2Cor-4-2\"><sup class=\"versenum\">2\u00a0<\/sup>But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man\u2019s conscience in the sight of God. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28863\" class=\"text 2Cor-4-3\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3\u00a0<\/sup>But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28864\" class=\"text 2Cor-4-4\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4\u00a0<\/sup>whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28865\" class=\"text 2Cor-4-5\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5\u00a0<\/sup>For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus\u2019 sake. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28866\" class=\"text 2Cor-4-6\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6\u00a0<\/sup>For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to <i>give<\/i> the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text 2Cor-4-7\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7\u00a0<\/sup>But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28868\" class=\"text 2Cor-4-8\"><sup class=\"versenum\">8\u00a0<\/sup><i>We are<\/i> hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; <i>we are<\/i> perplexed, but not in despair; <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28869\" class=\"text 2Cor-4-9\"><sup class=\"versenum\">9\u00a0<\/sup>persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed\u2014 <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28870\" class=\"text 2Cor-4-10\"><sup class=\"versenum\">10\u00a0<\/sup>always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28871\" class=\"text 2Cor-4-11\"><sup class=\"versenum\">11\u00a0<\/sup>For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus\u2019 sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28872\" class=\"text 2Cor-4-12\"><sup class=\"versenum\">12\u00a0<\/sup>So then death is working in us, but life in you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NKJV-28873\" class=\"text 2Cor-4-13\"><sup class=\"versenum\">13\u00a0<\/sup>And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, <span class=\"oblique\">\u201cI believed and therefore I spoke,\u201d<\/span><sup class=\"footnote\" data-fn=\"#fen-NKJV-28873a\" data-link=\"[&lt;a href=&quot;#fen-NKJV-28873a&quot; title=&quot;See footnote a&quot;&gt;a&lt;\/a&gt;]\">[<a title=\"See footnote a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=2%20Corinthians+4&amp;version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-28873a\">a<\/a>]<\/sup> we also believe and therefore speak, <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28874\" class=\"text 2Cor-4-14\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14\u00a0<\/sup>knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus, and will present <i>us<\/i> with you. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28875\" class=\"text 2Cor-4-15\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15\u00a0<\/sup>For all things <i>are<\/i> for your sakes, that grace, having spread through the many, may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text 2Cor-4-16\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward <i>man<\/i> is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28877\" class=\"text 2Cor-4-17\"><sup class=\"versenum\">17\u00a0<\/sup>For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding <i>and<\/i> eternal weight of glory, <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28878\" class=\"text 2Cor-4-18\"><sup class=\"versenum\">18\u00a0<\/sup>while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen <i>are<\/i> temporary, but the things which <i>are<\/i> not seen are eternal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Friday<\/p>\n<p>2 Corinthians 5<\/p>\n<p class=\"chapter-1\"><span class=\"text 2Cor-5-1\"><span class=\"chapternum\">\u00a0<\/span>For we know that if our earthly house, <i>this<\/i> tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28880\" class=\"text 2Cor-5-2\"><sup class=\"versenum\">2\u00a0<\/sup>For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28881\" class=\"text 2Cor-5-3\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3\u00a0<\/sup>if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28882\" class=\"text 2Cor-5-4\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4\u00a0<\/sup>For we who are in <i>this<\/i> tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28883\" class=\"text 2Cor-5-5\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5\u00a0<\/sup>Now He who has prepared us for this very thing <i>is<\/i> God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NKJV-28884\" class=\"text 2Cor-5-6\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6\u00a0<\/sup>So <i>we are<\/i> always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28885\" class=\"text 2Cor-5-7\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7\u00a0<\/sup>For we walk by faith, not by sight. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28886\" class=\"text 2Cor-5-8\"><sup class=\"versenum\">8\u00a0<\/sup>We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text 2Cor-5-9\"><sup class=\"versenum\">9\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28888\" class=\"text 2Cor-5-10\"><sup class=\"versenum\">10\u00a0<\/sup>For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things <i>done<\/i> in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28889\" class=\"text 2Cor-5-11\"><sup class=\"versenum\">11\u00a0<\/sup>Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are well known to God, and I also trust are well known in your consciences.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Saturday<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text 2Cor-5-12\"><sup class=\"versenum\">12\u00a0<\/sup>For we do not commend ourselves again to you, but give you opportunity to boast on our behalf, that you may have <i>an answer<\/i> for those who boast in appearance and not in heart. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28891\" class=\"text 2Cor-5-13\"><sup class=\"versenum\">13\u00a0<\/sup>For if we are beside ourselves, <i>it is<\/i> for God; or if we are of sound mind, <i>it is<\/i> for you. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28892\" class=\"text 2Cor-5-14\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14\u00a0<\/sup>For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28893\" class=\"text 2Cor-5-15\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15\u00a0<\/sup>and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NKJV-28894\" class=\"text 2Cor-5-16\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh.
