{"id":587,"date":"2015-07-11T20:11:43","date_gmt":"2015-07-12T00:11:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/orthodoxinsight.com\/?p=587"},"modified":"2015-07-04T07:56:58","modified_gmt":"2015-07-04T11:56:58","slug":"sunday-july-12","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/orthodoxinsight.com\/?p=587","title":{"rendered":"Sunday, July 12"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MATTHEW 9 So He got into a boat, crossed over, and came to His own city. <sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, \u201cSon, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.\u201d<sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>And at once some of the scribes said within themselves, \u201cThis Man blasphemes!\u201d<sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, \u201cWhy do you think evil in your hearts? <sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>For which is easier, to say, \u2018<em>Your<\/em> sins are forgiven you,\u2019 or to say, \u2018Arise and walk\u2019? <sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins\u201d\u2014then He said to the paralytic, \u201cArise, take up your bed, and go to your house.\u201d <sup>7\u00a0<\/sup>And he arose and departed to his house.<sup>8\u00a0<\/sup>Now when the multitudes saw <em>it,<\/em> they marveled\u00a0 and glorified God, who had given such power to men.<\/p>\n<p>Note in this regard, my brothers, that God does not inquire into the wants of those who are deliriously ill. He does not wait to see the faith of the ignorant or probe the senseless wishes of the sick. Yet he does not refuse to help the faith of another, so that by grace alone he confers whatever is proper of the divine will.
