4\u00a0<\/sup>For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the [c<\/a>]<\/sup>patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. <\/span> 5\u00a0<\/sup>Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, <\/span> 6\u00a0<\/sup>that you may with one mind and<\/i> one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n 7\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore receive one another, just as Christ also received [d<\/a>]<\/sup>us, to the glory of God. <\/span> 8\u00a0<\/sup>Now I say that Jesus Christ has become a [e<\/a>]<\/sup>servant to the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made<\/i> to the fathers, <\/span> 9\u00a0<\/sup>and that the Gentiles might glorify God for His<\/i> mercy, as it is written:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cFor this reason I will confess to You among the Gentiles,<\/span><\/span> 10\u00a0<\/sup>And again he says:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cRejoice, O Gentiles, with His people!\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n 11\u00a0<\/sup>And again:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cPraise the<\/span> Lord<\/span>, all you Gentiles!<\/span><\/span> 12\u00a0<\/sup>And again, Isaiah says:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThere shall be a root of Jesse;<\/span><\/span> 13\u00a0<\/sup>Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.<\/span><\/p>\n Prayer:\u00a0 O Gentle Light of the holy glory of the immortal, heavenly, holy, blessed Father, O Jesus Christ: Having come to the setting of the sun, having beheld the evening light, we praise the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit: God. Meet it is for Thee at all times to be hymned with reverent voices, O Son of God, Giver of life. Wherefore, the world doth glorify Thee. Monday 11\u00a0<\/sup>And He Himself gave some to be<\/i> apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, <\/span> 12\u00a0<\/sup>for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the [e<\/a>]<\/sup>edifying of the body of Christ, <\/span> 13\u00a0<\/sup>till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; <\/span> 14\u00a0<\/sup>that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, <\/span> 15\u00a0<\/sup>but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head\u2014Christ\u2014 <\/span> 16\u00a0<\/sup>from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.<\/span><\/p>\n Prayer:\u00a0 Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.<\/p>\n Tuesday 17\u00a0<\/sup>This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as [f<\/a>]<\/sup>the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, <\/span> 18\u00a0<\/sup>having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; <\/span> 19\u00a0<\/sup>who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.<\/span><\/p>\n 20\u00a0<\/sup>But you have not so learned Christ, <\/span> 21\u00a0<\/sup>if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: <\/span> 22\u00a0<\/sup>that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, <\/span> 23\u00a0<\/sup>and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, <\/span> 24\u00a0<\/sup>and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n 25\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore, putting away lying, \u201c<\/span>Let<\/i> each one<\/span> of you<\/i> speak truth with his neighbor,\u201d<\/span> for we are members of one another. <\/span> 26\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cBe angry, and do not sin\u201d<\/span>: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, <\/span> 27\u00a0<\/sup>nor give [g<\/a>]<\/sup>place to the devil. <\/span> 28\u00a0<\/sup>Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his<\/i> hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need. <\/span> 29\u00a0<\/sup>Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary [h<\/a>]<\/sup>edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. <\/span> 30\u00a0<\/sup>And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. <\/span> 31\u00a0<\/sup>Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, [i<\/a>]<\/sup>clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. <\/span> 32\u00a0<\/sup>And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.<\/span><\/p>\n Prayer:\u00a0 Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world: have mercy upon us. Wednesday Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. <\/span> 2\u00a0<\/sup>And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.<\/span><\/p>\n 3\u00a0<\/sup>But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; <\/span> 4\u00a0<\/sup>neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. <\/span> 5\u00a0<\/sup>For [a<\/a>]<\/sup>this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. <\/span> 6\u00a0<\/sup>Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. <\/span> 7\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore do not be partakers with them.<\/span><\/p>\n 8\u00a0<\/sup>For you were once darkness, but now you are<\/i> light in the Lord. Walk as children of light <\/span> 9\u00a0<\/sup>(for the fruit of the [b<\/a>]<\/sup>Spirit is<\/i> in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), <\/span> 10\u00a0<\/sup>finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.<\/span><\/p>\n Prayer:\u00a0 O Lord, save Thy people and bless Thine inheritance. Grant victory over their enemies to Orthodox Christians, and protect Thy people with Thy Cross.<\/p>\n Thursday 11\u00a0<\/sup>And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather [c<\/a>]<\/sup>expose them.<\/i> <\/span> 12\u00a0<\/sup>For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. <\/span> 13\u00a0<\/sup>But all things that are [d<\/a>]<\/sup>exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. <\/span> 14\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore He says:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cAwake, you who sleep,<\/span> 15\u00a0<\/sup>See then that you walk [e<\/a>]<\/sup>circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, <\/span> 16\u00a0<\/sup>redeeming the time, because the days are evil.<\/span><\/p>\n 17\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.<\/i> <\/span> 18\u00a0<\/sup>And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, <\/span> 19\u00a0<\/sup>speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, <\/span> 20\u00a0<\/sup>giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, <\/span> 21\u00a0<\/sup>submitting to one another in the fear of [f<\/a>]<\/sup>God.<\/span><\/p>\n Prayer:\u00a0 O my God relying on Thy infinite goodness and promises, I hope to obtain pardon of my sins, the help of Thy grace, and life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer. Friday 10\u00a0<\/sup>Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. <\/span> 11\u00a0<\/sup>Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the [b<\/a>]<\/sup>wiles of the devil. <\/span> 12\u00a0<\/sup>For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of [c<\/a>]<\/sup>the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts<\/i> of wickedness in the heavenly places.<\/i> <\/span> 13\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.<\/span><\/p>\n 14\u00a0<\/sup>Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, <\/span> 15\u00a0<\/sup>and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; <\/span> 16\u00a0<\/sup>above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. <\/span> 17\u00a0<\/sup>And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; <\/span> 18\u00a0<\/sup>praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints\u2014 <\/span> 19\u00a0<\/sup>and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, <\/span> 20\u00a0<\/sup>for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.<\/span><\/p>\n Prayer:\u00a0 O my God I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, who art all-good and worthy of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Saturday <\/span> 14\u00a0<\/sup>And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so<\/span> must the Son of Man be lifted up,<\/span> <\/span> 15\u00a0<\/sup>that whoever<\/span> believes in Him should<\/span> [c<\/a>]<\/sup>not perish but<\/span> have eternal life.<\/span> <\/span> 16\u00a0<\/sup>For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten<\/span> Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.<\/span> <\/span> 17\u00a0<\/sup>For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n 18\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cHe who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.<\/span> <\/span> 19\u00a0<\/sup>And this is the condemnation,<\/span> that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.<\/span> <\/span>
