MATTHEW 24 36\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cBut of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. 37\u00a0<\/sup>But as the days of Noah were,<\/em> so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38\u00a0<\/sup>For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39\u00a0<\/sup>and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40\u00a0<\/sup>Then two men<\/em> will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. 41\u00a0<\/sup>Two women will be<\/em> grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. 42\u00a0<\/sup>Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. 43\u00a0<\/sup>But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.45\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cWho then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? 46\u00a0<\/sup>Blessed is<\/em> that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. 47\u00a0<\/sup>Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods. 48\u00a0<\/sup>But if that evil servant says in his heart, \u2018My master is delaying his coming,\u2019 49\u00a0<\/sup>and begins to beat his<\/em> fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, 50\u00a0<\/sup>the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him<\/em> and at an hour that he is not aware of, 51\u00a0<\/sup>and will cut him in two and appoint him<\/em> his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.<\/p>\n

As confirmation of the truth of His words, He draws upon the events that occurred at the time of Noah. Just as then there were those who scoffed at the construction of the ark until the disaster came upon them and destroyed them all; so now there are those who scoff at these words concerning the end. But, Christ says, the destruction will come upon them suddenly. He shows that when the Antichrist comes, men will be giving themselves over to pleasure, reclining at weddings and feasts in a most arrogant manner, just as the giants did in the time of Noah.<\/p>\n
