Luke 9: Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. 2 \u00a0 He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. 3 \u00a0 And He said to them, \u201cTake nothing for the journey, neither staffs nor bag nor bread nor money; and do not have two tunics apiece.\u00a04\u201c Whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart. 5And whoever will not receive you, when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet as a testimony against them.\u201d 6 \u00a0 So they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.\u00a0\u00a0Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by Him; and he was perplexed, because it was said by some that John had risen from the dead, 8 \u00a0 and by some that Elijah had appeared, and by others that one of the old prophets had risen again. 9 \u00a0 Herod said, \u201cJohn I have beheaded, but who is this of whom I hear such things?\u201d So he sought to see Him.<\/p>\n
Prayer:\u00a0 O Lord, our God, in Thy goodness and love for men forgive me all the sins I have committed today in word, deed or thought. Grant me peaceful and undisturbed sleep. Send Thy Guardian Angel to guard and protect me from all evil. For Thou art the guardian of our souls and bodies, and to Thee we ascribe glory, to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

\nMatthew 14:\u00a0 At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the report about Jesus 2 \u00a0 and said to his servants, \u201cThis is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead, and therefore these powers are at work in him.\u201d 3 \u00a0 For Herod had laid hold of John and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip\u2019s wife. 4 \u00a0 Because John had said to him, \u201cIt is not lawful for you to have her.\u201d 5 \u00a0 And although he wanted to put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet. 6 \u00a0 But when Herod\u2019s birthday was celebrated, the daughter of Herodias danced before them and pleased Herod. 7 \u00a0 Therefore he promised with an oath to give her whatever she might ask. 8 \u00a0 So she, having been prompted by her mother, said, \u201cGive me John the Baptist\u2019s head here on a\u00a0\u00a0platter.\u201d 9 \u00a0 And the king was sorry; nevertheless, because of the oaths and because of those who sat with him, he commanded it to be given to her. 10 \u00a0 So he sent and had John beheaded in prison. 11 \u00a0 And his head was brought on a platter and given to the girl, and she brought it to her mother. 12 \u00a0 Then his disciples came and took away the body and buried it, and went and told Jesus.<\/p>\n

\nMatthew 14:13 \u00a0 When Jesus heard it, He departed from there by boat to a deserted place by Himself. But when the multitudes heard it, they followed Him on foot from the cities. 14 \u00a0 And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick. 15 \u00a0 When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, \u201cThis is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food.\u201d 16 \u00a0 But Jesus said to them, \u201cThey do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.\u201d 17 \u00a0 And they said to Him, \u201cWe have here only five loaves and two fish.\u201d 18 \u00a0 He said, \u201cBring them here to Me.\u201d 19 \u00a0 Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. 20 \u00a0 So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained. 21 \u00a0 Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.<\/p>\n

\nMatthew 14:22 \u00a0 Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. 23 \u00a0 And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. 24 \u00a0 But the boat was\u00a0\u00a0now in the middle of the sea,* tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary. 25 \u00a0 Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. 26 \u00a0 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, \u201cIt is a ghost!\u201d And they cried out for fear. 27 \u00a0 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, \u201cBe of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.\u201d 28 \u00a0 And Peter answered Him and said, \u201cLord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.\u201d 29 \u00a0 So He said, \u201cCome.\u201d And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 \u00a0 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous,* he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, \u201cLord, save me!\u201d 31 \u00a0 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, \u201cO you of little faith, why did you doubt?\u201d 32 \u00a0 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. 33 \u00a0 Then those who were in the boat came and* worshiped Him, saying, \u201cTruly You are the Son of God.\u201d<\/p>\n
