Stay here and watch with Me.\u201d 39 \u00a0 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, \u201cO My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.\u201d 40 \u00a0 Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, \u201cWhat! Could you not watch with Me one hour? 41Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.\u201d 42 \u00a0 Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, \u201cO My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless* I drink it, Your will be done.\u201d 43 \u00a0 And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy. 44 \u00a0 So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. 45 \u00a0 Then He came to His disciples and said to them, \u201cAre you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man<\/p>\n<p>Prayer:\u00a0 O Lord, our God, in Thy goodness and love for men forgive me all the sins I have committed today in word, deed or thought. Grant me peaceful and undisturbed sleep. Send Thy Guardian Angel to guard and protect me from all evil. For Thou art the guardian of our souls and bodies, and to Thee we ascribe glory, to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.<br \/>\n*(Evening Prayer and Confession of Sins)<\/p>\n<p>Monday<br \/>\nMatthew 26:47 \u00a0 And while He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, with a great multitude with swords and clubs, came from the chief priests and elders of the people. 48 \u00a0 Now His betrayer had given them a sign, saying, \u201cWhomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him.\u201d 49 \u00a0 Immediately he went up to Jesus and said, \u201cGreetings, Rabbi!\u201d and kissed Him. 50 \u00a0 But Jesus said to him, \u201cFriend, why have you come?\u201d Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and took Him. 51 \u00a0 And suddenly, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. 52 \u00a0 But Jesus said to him, \u201cPut your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish* by the sword. 53Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels? 54How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?\u201d 55 \u00a0 In that hour Jesus said to the multitudes, \u201cHave you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs to take Me? I sat daily with you, teaching in the temple, and you did not seize Me. 56But all this was done that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.\u201d Then all the disciples forsook Him and fled.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Prayer:\u00a0 O come, let us worship God our King.<br \/>\nO come, let us worship and fall down before Christ our King and God.<br \/>\nO come, let us worship and fall down before Christ Himself, our King and God.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday<br \/>\nJohn 18:15 \u00a0 And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another* disciple. Now that disciple was known to the high priest, and went with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest. 16 \u00a0 But Peter stood at the door outside. Then the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to her who kept the door, and brought Peter in. 17 \u00a0 Then the servant girl who kept the door said to Peter, \u201cYou are not also one of this Man\u2019s disciples, are you?\u201d He said, \u201cI am not.\u201d 18 \u00a0 Now the servants and officers who had made a fire of coals stood there, for it was cold, and they warmed themselves. And Peter stood with them and warmed himself.<\/p>\n<p>Prayer:\u00a0 Soul of Christ, sanctify me, Body of Christ, save me Blood of Christ, inebriate me, Water from Christ&#8217;s side, wash me, Passion of Christ, strengthen me, O good Jesus, hear me, Within Thy wounds hide me, Suffer me not to be separated from Thee, From the malicious enemy defend me, In the hour of my death call me, And bid me come unto Thee, That I may praise Thee with Thy saints, and with Thy angels, Forever and ever, Amen.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday<br \/>\nJohn 18:<\/p>\n<p>19 \u00a0 The high priest then asked Jesus about His disciples and His doctrine. 20 \u00a0 Jesus answered him, \u201cI spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where the Jews always meet,* and in secret I have said nothing. 21Why do you ask Me? Ask\u00a0\u00a0those who have heard Me what I said to them. Indeed they know what I said.\u201d 22 \u00a0 And when He had said these things, one of the officers who stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, \u201cDo You answer the high priest like that?\u201d 23 \u00a0 Jesus answered him, \u201cIf I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil; but if well, why do you strike Me?\u201d 24 \u00a0 Then Annas sent Him bound to Caiaphas the high priest.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Prayer:\u00a0 Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.\u00a0 Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.<br \/>\n*Memorare<\/p>\n<p>Thursday<br \/>\nMatthew 26:And those who had laid hold of Jesus led Him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled. 58 \u00a0 But Peter followed Him at a distance to the high priest\u2019s courtyard. And he went in and sat with the servants to see the end. 59 \u00a0 Now the chief priests, the elders,* and all the council sought false testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, 60 \u00a0 but found none. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they found none.* But at last two false witnesses* came forward 61 \u00a0 and said, \u201cThis fellow said, \u2018I am able to destroy the temple of God and to build it in three days.\u2019 \u00a0\u201d 62 \u00a0 And the high priest arose and said to Him, \u201cDo You answer nothing? What is it these men testify against You?\u201d 63 \u00a0 But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest answered and said to Him, \u201cI put You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!\u201d 64 \u00a0 Jesus said to him, \u201cIt is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.\u201d 65 \u00a0 Then the high priest tore his clothes, saying, \u201cHe has spoken blasphemy! What further need do we have of witnesses? Look, now you have heard His blasphemy! 66 \u00a0 What do you think?\u201d They answered and said, \u201cHe is deserving of death.\u201d 67 \u00a0 Then they spat in His face and beat Him; and others struck Him with the palms of their hands, 68 \u00a0 saying, \u201cProphesy to us, Christ! Who is the one who struck You?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Prayer:\u00a0 Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth. O, God, who taught the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit,\u00a0 grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever rejoice in His consolations, Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.<\/p>\n<p>Friday<br \/>\nMatthew 26:69 \u00a0 Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard. And a servant girl came to him, saying, \u201cYou also were with Jesus of Galilee.\u201d 70 \u00a0 But he denied it before them all, saying, \u201cI do not know what you are saying.\u201d 71 \u00a0 And when he had gone out to the gateway, another girl saw him and said to those who were there, \u201cThis fellow also was with Jesus of Nazareth.\u201d 72 \u00a0 But again he denied with an oath, \u201cI do not know the Man!\u201d 73 \u00a0 And a little later those who stood by came up and said to Peter, \u201cSurely you also are one of them, for your speech betrays you.\u201d 74 \u00a0 Then he began to curse and swear, saying, \u201cI do not know the Man!\u201d Immediately a rooster crowed. 75 \u00a0 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus who had said to him, \u201cBefore the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.\u201d So he went out and wept bitterly.<\/p>\n<p>Prayer:\u00a0 With the Saints, give rest, O Christ, to the souls of Thy servants, where there is no pain, no sorrow, no sighing, but life everlasting.<br \/>\n*Kontakion of the Departed<\/p>\n<p>Saturday<br \/>\nMatthew 27:Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4 \u00a0 saying, \u201cI have sinned by betraying innocent blood.\u201d And they said, \u201cWhat is that to us? You see to it!\u201d 5 \u00a0 Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself. 6 \u00a0 But the chief priests took the silver pieces and said, \u201cIt is not lawful to put them into the treasury, because they are the price of blood.\u201d 7 \u00a0 And they consulted together and bought with them the potter\u2019s field, to bury strangers in. 8 \u00a0 Therefore that field has been called the Field of Blood to\u00a0\u00a0this day. 9 \u00a0 Then was fulfilled what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying, \u201cAnd they took the thirty pieces of silver, the value of Him who was priced, whom they of the children of Israel priced, 10and gave them for the potter\u2019s field, as the LORD directed me.\u201d*<\/p>\n<p>Prayer:\u00a0 Lord, I have cried to Thee, hearken unto me. Hearken unto me, O Lord. Lord, I have cried to Thee, hearken unto me.\u00a0 Attend to the voice of my prayer, when I cry unto Thee. Hearken unto me, O Lord.
