{"id":11623,"date":"2022-08-13T20:14:24","date_gmt":"2022-08-14T00:14:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/orthodoxinsight.com\/?p=11623"},"modified":"2022-08-11T20:29:33","modified_gmt":"2022-08-12T00:29:33","slug":"daily-devotional-for-august-14-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orthodoxinsight.com\/?p=11623","title":{"rendered":"Daily Devotional for August 14-20"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sunday<\/p>\n<p class=\"chapter-1\"><span class=\"text Mark-3-1\"><span class=\"chapternum\">Mark 3:1\u00a0<\/span>And He entered the synagogue again, and a man was there who had a withered hand. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24291\" class=\"text Mark-3-2\"><sup class=\"versenum\">2\u00a0<\/sup>So they watched Him closely, whether He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might <sup class=\"footnote\" data-fn=\"#fen-NKJV-24291a\" data-link=\"[&lt;a href=&quot;#fen-NKJV-24291a&quot; title=&quot;See footnote a&quot;&gt;a&lt;\/a&gt;]\">[<a title=\"See footnote a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=mark+3&amp;version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-24291a\">a<\/a>]<\/sup>accuse Him. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24292\" class=\"text Mark-3-3\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3\u00a0<\/sup>And He said to the man who had the withered hand, <sup class=\"footnote\" data-fn=\"#fen-NKJV-24292b\" data-link=\"[&lt;a href=&quot;#fen-NKJV-24292b&quot; title=&quot;See footnote b&quot;&gt;b&lt;\/a&gt;]\">[<a title=\"See footnote b\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=mark+3&amp;version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-24292b\">b<\/a>]<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">\u201cStep forward.\u201d<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24293\" class=\"text Mark-3-4\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4\u00a0<\/sup>Then He said to them, <span class=\"woj\">\u201cIs it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?\u201d<\/span> But they kept silent. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24294\" class=\"text Mark-3-5\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5\u00a0<\/sup>And when He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved by the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, <span class=\"woj\">\u201cStretch out your hand.\u201d<\/span> And he stretched <i>it<\/i> out, and his hand was restored <sup class=\"footnote\" data-fn=\"#fen-NKJV-24294c\" data-link=\"[&lt;a href=&quot;#fen-NKJV-24294c&quot; title=&quot;See footnote c&quot;&gt;c&lt;\/a&gt;]\">[<a title=\"See footnote c\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=mark+3&amp;version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-24294c\">c<\/a>]<\/sup>as whole as the other. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24295\" class=\"text Mark-3-6\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6\u00a0<\/sup>Then the Pharisees went out and immediately plotted with the Herodians against Him, how they might destroy Him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text Mark-3-7\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7\u00a0<\/sup>But Jesus withdrew with His disciples to the sea. And a great multitude from Galilee followed Him, and from Judea <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24297\" class=\"text Mark-3-8\"><sup class=\"versenum\">8\u00a0<\/sup>and Jerusalem and Idumea and beyond the Jordan; and those from Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they heard how many things He was doing, came to Him. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24298\" class=\"text Mark-3-9\"><sup class=\"versenum\">9\u00a0<\/sup>So He told His disciples that a small boat should be kept ready for Him because of the multitude, lest they should crush Him. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24299\" class=\"text Mark-3-10\"><sup class=\"versenum\">10\u00a0<\/sup>For He healed many, so that as many as had afflictions pressed about Him to touch Him. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24300\" class=\"text Mark-3-11\"><sup class=\"versenum\">11\u00a0<\/sup>And the unclean spirits, whenever they saw Him, fell down before Him and cried out, saying, \u201cYou are the Son of God.\u201d <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24301\" class=\"text Mark-3-12\"><sup class=\"versenum\">12\u00a0<\/sup>But He sternly warned them that they should not make Him known.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text Mark-3-13\"><sup class=\"versenum\">13\u00a0<\/sup>And He went up on the mountain and called to <i>Him<\/i> those He Himself wanted. And they came to Him. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24303\" class=\"text Mark-3-14\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14\u00a0<\/sup>Then He appointed twelve, <sup class=\"footnote\" data-fn=\"#fen-NKJV-24303d\" data-link=\"[&lt;a href=&quot;#fen-NKJV-24303d&quot; title=&quot;See footnote d&quot;&gt;d&lt;\/a&gt;]\">[<a title=\"See footnote d\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=mark+3&amp;version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-24303d\">d<\/a>]<\/sup>that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach, <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24304\" class=\"text Mark-3-15\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15\u00a0<\/sup>and to have <sup class=\"footnote\" data-fn=\"#fen-NKJV-24304e\" data-link=\"[&lt;a href=&quot;#fen-NKJV-24304e&quot; title=&quot;See footnote e&quot;&gt;e&lt;\/a&gt;]\">[<a title=\"See footnote e\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=mark+3&amp;version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-24304e\">e<\/a>]<\/sup>power <sup class=\"footnote\" data-fn=\"#fen-NKJV-24304f\" data-link=\"[&lt;a href=&quot;#fen-NKJV-24304f&quot; title=&quot;See footnote f&quot;&gt;f&lt;\/a&gt;]\">[<a title=\"See footnote f\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=mark+3&amp;version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-24304f\">f<\/a>]<\/sup>to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons: <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24305\" class=\"text Mark-3-16\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16\u00a0<\/sup><sup class=\"footnote\" data-fn=\"#fen-NKJV-24305g\" data-link=\"[&lt;a href=&quot;#fen-NKJV-24305g&quot; title=&quot;See footnote g&quot;&gt;g&lt;\/a&gt;]\">[<a title=\"See footnote g\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=mark+3&amp;version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-24305g\">g<\/a>]<\/sup>Simon, to whom He gave the name Peter; <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24306\" class=\"text Mark-3-17\"><sup class=\"versenum\">17\u00a0<\/sup>James the <i>son<\/i> of Zebedee and John the brother of James, to whom He gave the name Boanerges, that is, \u201cSons of Thunder\u201d; <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24307\" class=\"text Mark-3-18\"><sup class=\"versenum\">18\u00a0<\/sup>Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the <i>son<\/i> of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Cananite; <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24308\" class=\"text Mark-3-19\"><sup class=\"versenum\">19\u00a0<\/sup>and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him. And they went into a house.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Prayer:\u00a0\u00a0 O Lord, lead me not into temptation.<\/p>\n<p>O Lord, grant me good thoughts.\u00a0 (Hourly prayers or St John Chrysostom)<\/p>\n<p>Monday<\/p>\n<p>Mark 3:\u00a0<span class=\"text Mark-3-20\"><sup class=\"versenum\">20\u00a0<\/sup>Then the multitude came together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24310\" class=\"text Mark-3-21\"><sup class=\"versenum\">21\u00a0<\/sup>But when His own people heard <i>about this,<\/i> they went out to lay hold of Him, for they said, \u201cHe is out of His mind.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NKJV-24311\" class=\"text Mark-3-22\"><sup class=\"versenum\">22\u00a0<\/sup>And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, \u201cHe has Beelzebub,\u201d and, \u201cBy the ruler of the demons He casts out demons.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NKJV-24312\" class=\"text Mark-3-23\"><sup class=\"versenum\">23\u00a0<\/sup>So He called them to <i>Himself<\/i> and said to them in parables: <span class=\"woj\">\u201cHow can Satan cast out Satan?<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24313\" class=\"text Mark-3-24\"><sup class=\"versenum\">24\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24314\" class=\"text Mark-3-25\"><sup class=\"versenum\">25\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24315\" class=\"text Mark-3-26\"><sup class=\"versenum\">26\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">And if Satan has risen up against himself, and is divided, he cannot stand, but has an end.<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24316\" class=\"text Mark-3-27\"><sup class=\"versenum\">27\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">No one can enter a strong man\u2019s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. And then he will plunder his house.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Prayer:\u00a0 O Lord, grant me tears, and remembrance of death, and compunction.<\/p>\n<p>O Lord, grant me the thought of confessing my sins.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday<\/p>\n<p>Mark 3:<span class=\"text Mark-3-28\"><sup class=\"versenum\">28\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">\u201cAssuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter;<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24318\" class=\"text Mark-3-29\"><sup class=\"versenum\">29\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation\u201d<\/span>\u2014 <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24319\" class=\"text Mark-3-30\"><sup class=\"versenum\">30\u00a0<\/sup>because they said, \u201cHe has an unclean spirit.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text Mark-3-31\"><sup class=\"versenum\">31\u00a0<\/sup>Then His brothers and His mother came, and standing outside they sent to Him, calling Him. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24321\" class=\"text Mark-3-32\"><sup class=\"versenum\">32\u00a0<\/sup>And a multitude was sitting around Him; and they said to Him, \u201cLook, Your mother and Your brothers <sup class=\"footnote\" data-fn=\"#fen-NKJV-24321h\" data-link=\"[&lt;a href=&quot;#fen-NKJV-24321h&quot; title=&quot;See footnote h&quot;&gt;h&lt;\/a&gt;]\">[<a title=\"See footnote h\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=mark+3&amp;version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-24321h\">h<\/a>]<\/sup>are outside seeking You.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NKJV-24322\" class=\"text Mark-3-33\"><sup class=\"versenum\">33\u00a0<\/sup>But He answered them, saying, <span class=\"woj\">\u201cWho is My mother, or My brothers?\u201d<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24323\" class=\"text Mark-3-34\"><sup class=\"versenum\">34\u00a0<\/sup>And He looked around in a circle at those who sat about Him, and said, <span class=\"woj\">\u201cHere are My mother and My brothers!<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24324\" class=\"text Mark-3-35\"><sup class=\"versenum\">35\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">For whoever does the<\/span> <span class=\"woj\">will of God is My brother and My sister and mother.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Prayer: O Lord, grant me humility, chastity, and obedience.<\/p>\n<p>O Lord, grant me patience, courage, and meekness.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday<\/p>\n<p>Mark 4:<span class=\"text Mark-4-1\"><span class=\"chapternum\">\u00a0<\/span>And again He began to teach by the sea. And a great multitude was gathered to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat <i>in it<\/i> on the sea; and the whole multitude was on the land facing the sea. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24326\" class=\"text Mark-4-2\"><sup class=\"versenum\">2\u00a0<\/sup>Then He taught them many things by parables, and said to them in His teaching:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NKJV-24327\" class=\"text Mark-4-3\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">\u201cListen! Behold, a sower went out to sow.<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24328\" class=\"text Mark-4-4\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">And it happened, as he sowed, <i>that<\/i> some <i>seed<\/i> fell by the wayside; and the birds<\/span> <sup class=\"footnote\" data-fn=\"#fen-NKJV-24328a\" data-link=\"[&lt;a href=&quot;#fen-NKJV-24328a&quot; title=&quot;See footnote a&quot;&gt;a&lt;\/a&gt;]\">[<a title=\"See footnote a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Mark%204&amp;version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-24328a\">a<\/a>]<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">of the air came and devoured it.<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24329\" class=\"text Mark-4-5\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">Some fell on stony ground, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of earth.<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24330\" class=\"text Mark-4-6\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">But when the sun was up it was scorched, and because it had no root it withered away.<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24331\" class=\"text Mark-4-7\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">And some <i>seed<\/i> fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no<\/span> <sup class=\"footnote\" data-fn=\"#fen-NKJV-24331b\" data-link=\"[&lt;a href=&quot;#fen-NKJV-24331b&quot; title=&quot;See footnote b&quot;&gt;b&lt;\/a&gt;]\">[<a title=\"See footnote b\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Mark%204&amp;version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-24331b\">b<\/a>]<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">crop.<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24332\" class=\"text Mark-4-8\"><sup class=\"versenum\">8\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">But other <i>seed<\/i> fell on good ground and yielded a crop that sprang up, increased and produced: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NKJV-24333\" class=\"text Mark-4-9\"><sup class=\"versenum\">9\u00a0<\/sup>And He said <sup class=\"footnote\" data-fn=\"#fen-NKJV-24333c\" data-link=\"[&lt;a href=&quot;#fen-NKJV-24333c&quot; title=&quot;See footnote c&quot;&gt;c&lt;\/a&gt;]\">[<a title=\"See footnote c\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Mark%204&amp;version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-24333c\">c<\/a>]<\/sup>to them, <span class=\"woj\">\u201cHe who has ears to hear, let him hear!\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text Mark-4-10\"><sup class=\"versenum\">10\u00a0<\/sup>But when He was alone, those around Him with the twelve asked Him about the parable. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24335\" class=\"text Mark-4-11\"><sup class=\"versenum\">11\u00a0<\/sup>And He said to them, <span class=\"woj\">\u201cTo you it has been given to<\/span> <span class=\"woj\">know the<\/span> <sup class=\"footnote\" data-fn=\"#fen-NKJV-24335d\" data-link=\"[&lt;a href=&quot;#fen-NKJV-24335d&quot; title=&quot;See footnote d&quot;&gt;d&lt;\/a&gt;]\">[<a title=\"See footnote d\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Mark%204&amp;version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-24335d\">d<\/a>]<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">mystery of the kingdom of God; but to<\/span> <span class=\"woj\">those who are outside, all things come in parables,<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24336\" class=\"text Mark-4-12\"><sup class=\"versenum\">12\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">so that<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"poetry top-1\">\n<p class=\"line\"><span class=\"text Mark-4-12\"><span class=\"woj\">\u2018Seeing they may see and not perceive,<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"text Mark-4-12\"><span class=\"woj\">And hearing they may hear and not understand;<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"text Mark-4-12\"><span class=\"woj\">Lest they should turn,<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"text Mark-4-12\"><span class=\"woj\">And <i>their<\/i> sins be forgiven them.\u2019<\/span> <span class=\"woj\">\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Prayer:\u00a0 O Lord, implant in me the root of good, Thy fear in my heart.<\/p>\n<p>O Lord, vouchsafe me to love Thee with all my soul and thoughts, and in all things to do Thy will.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday<br \/>\nMark 4:<span class=\"text Mark-4-13\"><sup class=\"versenum\">13\u00a0<\/sup>And He said to them, <span class=\"woj\">\u201cDo you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables?<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24338\" class=\"text Mark-4-14\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">The sower sows the word.<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24339\" class=\"text Mark-4-15\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts.<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24340\" class=\"text Mark-4-16\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">These likewise are the ones sown on stony ground who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with gladness;<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24341\" class=\"text Mark-4-17\"><sup class=\"versenum\">17\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">and they have no root in themselves, and so endure only for a time. Afterward, when tribulation or persecution arises for the word\u2019s sake, immediately they stumble.<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24342\" class=\"text Mark-4-18\"><sup class=\"versenum\">18\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">Now these are the ones sown among thorns; <i>they are<\/i> the ones who hear the word,<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24343\" class=\"text Mark-4-19\"><sup class=\"versenum\">19\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">and the<\/span> <span class=\"woj\">cares of this world,<\/span> <span class=\"woj\">the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24344\" class=\"text Mark-4-20\"><sup class=\"versenum\">20\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word,<\/span> <sup class=\"footnote\" data-fn=\"#fen-NKJV-24344e\" data-link=\"[&lt;a href=&quot;#fen-NKJV-24344e&quot; title=&quot;See footnote e&quot;&gt;e&lt;\/a&gt;]\">[<a title=\"See footnote e\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Mark%204&amp;version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-24344e\">e<\/a>]<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">accept <i>it,<\/i> and bear<\/span> <span class=\"woj\">fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text Mark-4-21\"><sup class=\"versenum\">21\u00a0<\/sup>Also He said to them, <span class=\"woj\">\u201cIs a lamp brought to be put under a basket or under a bed? Is it not to be set on a lampstand?<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24346\" class=\"text Mark-4-22\"><sup class=\"versenum\">22\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come to light.<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24347\" class=\"text Mark-4-23\"><sup class=\"versenum\">23\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Prayer: O Lord, protect me from evil men, and demons, and passions, and from every other unseemly thing.<\/p>\n<p>O Lord, Thou knowest that Thou doest as Thou wilt: Thy will be done also in me a sinner; for blessed art Thou unto the ages. Amen.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Friday<\/p>\n<p>Mark 4:<span id=\"en-NKJV-24348\" class=\"text Mark-4-24\"><sup class=\"versenum\">24\u00a0<\/sup>Then He said to them, <span class=\"woj\">\u201cTake heed what you hear.<\/span> <span class=\"woj\">With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given.<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24349\" class=\"text Mark-4-25\"><sup class=\"versenum\">25\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">For whoever has, to him more will be given; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text Mark-4-26\"><sup class=\"versenum\">26\u00a0<\/sup>And He said, <span class=\"woj\">\u201cThe kingdom of God is as if a man should<\/span> <sup class=\"footnote\" data-fn=\"#fen-NKJV-24350f\" data-link=\"[&lt;a href=&quot;#fen-NKJV-24350f&quot; title=&quot;See footnote f&quot;&gt;f&lt;\/a&gt;]\">[<a title=\"See footnote f\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Mark%204&amp;version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-24350f\">f<\/a>]<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">scatter seed on the ground,<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24351\" class=\"text Mark-4-27\"><sup class=\"versenum\">27\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and<\/span> <span class=\"woj\">grow, he himself does not know how.<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24352\" class=\"text Mark-4-28\"><sup class=\"versenum\">28\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">For the earth<\/span> <span class=\"woj\">yields crops by itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head.<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24353\" class=\"text Mark-4-29\"><sup class=\"versenum\">29\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">But when the grain ripens, immediately<\/span> <span class=\"woj\">he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text Mark-4-30\"><sup class=\"versenum\">30\u00a0<\/sup>Then He said, <span class=\"woj\">\u201cTo what shall we liken the kingdom of God? Or with what parable shall we picture it?<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24355\" class=\"text Mark-4-31\"><sup class=\"versenum\">31\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\"><i>It is<\/i> like a mustard seed which, when it is sown on the ground, is smaller than all the seeds on earth;<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24356\" class=\"text Mark-4-32\"><sup class=\"versenum\">32\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">but when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all herbs, and shoots out large branches, so that the birds of the air may nest under its shade.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Prayer:\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Lord if it be that I have done a good thing I thank Thee for by Thy Grace is has been done.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday<\/p>\n<p>Mark 4:<span class=\"text Mark-4-33\"><sup class=\"versenum\">33\u00a0<\/sup>And with many such parables He spoke the word to them as they were able to hear <i>it.<\/i> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24358\" class=\"text Mark-4-34\"><sup class=\"versenum\">34\u00a0<\/sup>But without a parable He did not speak to them. And when they were alone, He explained all things to His disciples.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text Mark-4-35\"><sup class=\"versenum\">35\u00a0<\/sup>On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, <span class=\"woj\">\u201cLet us cross over to the other side.\u201d<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24360\" class=\"text Mark-4-36\"><sup class=\"versenum\">36\u00a0<\/sup>Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24361\" class=\"text Mark-4-37\"><sup class=\"versenum\">37\u00a0<\/sup>And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-24362\" class=\"text Mark-4-38\"><sup class=\"versenum\">38\u00a0<\/sup>But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow.
