Sunday
\nMark 15:6\u00a0<\/sup>Now at the feast he was accustomed to releasing one prisoner to them, whomever they requested. <\/span> 7\u00a0<\/sup>And there was one named Barabbas, who was<\/i> chained with his fellow rebels; they had committed murder in the rebellion. <\/span> 8\u00a0<\/sup>Then the multitude, [b<\/a>]<\/sup>crying aloud, began to ask him to do<\/i> just as he had always done for them. <\/span> 9\u00a0<\/sup>But Pilate answered them, saying, \u201cDo you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?\u201d <\/span> 10\u00a0<\/sup>For he knew that the chief priests had handed Him over because of envy.<\/span><\/p>\n

11\u00a0<\/sup>But the chief priests stirred up the crowd, so that he should rather release Barabbas to them. <\/span> 12\u00a0<\/sup>Pilate answered and said to them again, \u201cWhat then do you want me to do with Him<\/i> whom you call the King of the Jews?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

13\u00a0<\/sup>So they cried out again, \u201cCrucify Him!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

14\u00a0<\/sup>Then Pilate said to them, \u201cWhy, what evil has He done?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

But they cried out all the more, \u201cCrucify Him!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

15\u00a0<\/sup>So Pilate, wanting to gratify the crowd, released Barabbas to them; and he delivered Jesus, after he had scourged Him,<\/i> to be crucified.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prayer:\u00a0 O Gentle Light of the holy glory of the immortal, heavenly, holy, blessed Father, O Jesus Christ: Having come to the setting of the sun, having beheld the evening light, we praise the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit: God. Monday
\nMark 15:16\u00a0<\/sup>Then the soldiers led Him away into the hall called [c<\/a>]<\/sup>Praetorium, and they called together the whole garrison. <\/span> 17\u00a0<\/sup>And they clothed Him with purple; and they twisted a crown of thorns, put it on His head,<\/i> <\/span> 18\u00a0<\/sup>and began to salute Him, \u201cHail, King of the Jews!\u201d <\/span> 19\u00a0<\/sup>Then they struck Him on the head with a reed and spat on Him; and bowing the knee, they worshiped Him. <\/span> 20\u00a0<\/sup>And when they had mocked Him, they took the purple off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him out to crucify Him.<\/span><\/p>\n

21\u00a0<\/sup>Then they compelled a certain man, Simon a Cyrenian, the father of Alexander and Rufus, as he was coming out of the country and passing by, to bear His cross. <\/span> 22\u00a0<\/sup>And they brought Him to the place Golgotha, which is translated, Place of a Skull. <\/span> 23\u00a0<\/sup>Then they gave Him wine mingled with myrrh to drink, but He did not take it.<\/i> <\/span> 24\u00a0<\/sup>And when they crucified Him, they divided His garments, casting lots for them to determine<\/i> what every man should take.<\/span><\/p>\n

25\u00a0<\/sup>Now it was the third hour, and they crucified Him. <\/span> 26\u00a0<\/sup>And the inscription of His [d<\/a>]<\/sup>accusation was written above:<\/span><\/p>\n

Prayer:\u00a0 Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.<\/p>\n

Tuesday
\nMark 15:27\u00a0<\/sup>With Him they also crucified two robbers, one on His right and the other on His left. <\/span> 28\u00a0<\/sup>[e<\/a>]<\/sup>So the Scripture was fulfilled which says, \u201cAnd He was numbered with the transgressors.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

29\u00a0<\/sup>And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads and saying, \u201cAha! You<\/i> who destroy the temple and build it<\/i> in three days, <\/span> 30\u00a0<\/sup>save Yourself, and come down from the cross!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

31\u00a0<\/sup>Likewise the chief priests also, mocking among themselves with the scribes, said, \u201cHe saved others; Himself He cannot save. <\/span> 32\u00a0<\/sup>Let the Christ, the King of Israel, descend now from the cross, that we may see and [f<\/a>]<\/sup>believe.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Even those who were crucified with Him reviled Him.<\/span><\/p>\n

33\u00a0<\/sup>Now when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. <\/span> 34\u00a0<\/sup>And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, \u201cEloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?\u201d<\/span> which is translated, \u201cMy God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

35\u00a0<\/sup>Some of those who stood by, when they heard that,<\/i> said, \u201cLook, He is calling for Elijah!\u201d <\/span> 36\u00a0<\/sup>Then someone ran and filled a sponge full of sour wine, put it<\/i> on a reed, and offered it<\/i> to Him to drink, saying, \u201cLet Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to take Him down.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

37\u00a0<\/sup>And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday
\nMark 15:38\u00a0<\/sup>Then the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. <\/span> 39\u00a0<\/sup>So when the centurion, who stood opposite Him, saw that [g<\/a>]<\/sup>He cried out like this and breathed His last, he said, \u201cTruly this Man was the Son of God!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

40\u00a0<\/sup>There were also women looking on from afar, among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the Less and of Joses, and Salome, <\/span> 41\u00a0<\/sup>who also followed Him and ministered to Him when He was in Galilee, and many other women who came up with Him to Jerusalem.<\/span><\/p>\n

42\u00a0<\/sup>Now when evening had come, because it was the Preparation Day, that is, the day before the Sabbath, <\/span> 43\u00a0<\/sup>Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent council member, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, coming and taking courage, went in to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. <\/span> 44\u00a0<\/sup>Pilate marveled that He was already dead; and summoning the centurion, he asked him if He had been dead for some time. <\/span> 45\u00a0<\/sup>So when he found out from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph. <\/span> 46\u00a0<\/sup>Then he bought fine linen, took Him down, and wrapped Him in the linen. And he laid Him in a tomb which had been hewn out of the rock, and rolled a stone against the door of the tomb. <\/span> 47\u00a0<\/sup>And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother<\/i> of Joses observed where He was laid.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prayer:\u00a0 O Lord, save Thy people and bless Thine inheritance. Grant victory over their enemies to Orthodox Christians, and protect Thy people with Thy Cross.<\/p>\n

Thursday
\nMark 16:\u00a0<\/span>Now when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother<\/i> of James, and Salome bought spices, that they might come and anoint Him. <\/span> 2\u00a0<\/sup>Very early in the morning, on the first day<\/i> of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen. <\/span> 3\u00a0<\/sup>And they said among themselves, \u201cWho will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?\u201d <\/span> 4\u00a0<\/sup>But when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away\u2014for it was very large. <\/span> 5\u00a0<\/sup>And entering the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a long white robe sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed.<\/span><\/p>\n

6\u00a0<\/sup>But he said to them, \u201cDo not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him. <\/span> 7\u00a0<\/sup>But go, tell His disciples\u2014and Peter\u2014that He is going [a<\/a>]<\/sup>before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

8\u00a0<\/sup>So they went out [b<\/a>]<\/sup>quickly and fled from the tomb, for they trembled and were amazed. And they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.<\/span><\/p>\n

9\u00a0<\/sup>[c<\/a>]<\/sup>Now when He<\/i> rose early on the first day<\/i> of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons. <\/span> 10\u00a0<\/sup>She went and told those who had been with Him, as they mourned and wept. <\/span> 11\u00a0<\/sup>And when they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prayer:\u00a0 O my God relying on Thy infinite goodness and promises, I hope to obtain pardon of my sins, the help of Thy grace, and life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer.

Friday
\nMark 16:12\u00a0<\/sup>After that, He appeared in another form to two of them as they walked and went into the country. <\/span> 13\u00a0<\/sup>And they went and told it<\/i> to the rest, but<\/i> they did not believe them either.<\/span><\/p>\n

14\u00a0<\/sup>Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen. <\/span> 15\u00a0<\/sup>And He said to them, \u201cGo into all the world<\/span> and preach the gospel to every creature.<\/span> <\/span> 16\u00a0<\/sup>He who believes and is baptized will be saved;<\/span> but he who does not believe will be condemned.<\/span> <\/span> 17\u00a0<\/sup>And these<\/span> signs will follow those who<\/span> [d<\/a>]<\/sup>believe:<\/span> In My name they will cast out demons;<\/span> they will speak with new tongues;<\/span> <\/span> 18\u00a0<\/sup>they<\/span>[e<\/a>]<\/sup> will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them;<\/span> they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

19\u00a0<\/sup>So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. <\/span> 20\u00a0<\/sup>And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them<\/i> and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prayer:\u00a0 O my God I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, who art all-good and worthy of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life.
