Tuesday<\/strong> John <\/strong>21: 15-25
\nSo when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, \u201cSimon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?\u201d
\nHe said to Him, \u201cYes, Lord; You know that I love You.\u201d
\nHe said to him, \u201cFeed My lambs.\u201d
\n16<\/sup> He said to him again a second time, \u201cSimon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?\u201d
\nHe said to Him, \u201cYes, Lord; You know that I love You.\u201d
\nHe said to him, \u201cTend My sheep.\u201d
\n17<\/sup> He said to him the third time, \u201cSimon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?\u201d Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, \u201cDo you love Me?\u201d
\nAnd he said to Him, \u201cLord, You know all things; You know that I love You.\u201d
\nJesus said to him, \u201cFeed My sheep. 18<\/sup> Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish.\u201d 19<\/sup> This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, \u201cFollow Me.\u201d
\n20<\/sup> Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had leaned on His breast at the supper, and said, \u201cLord, who is the one who betrays You?\u201d 21<\/sup> Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, \u201cBut Lord, what about this man?\u201d
\n22<\/sup> Jesus said to him, \u201cIf I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.\u201d
\n23<\/sup> Then this saying went out among the brethren that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but, \u201cIf I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you?\u201d
\n24<\/sup> This is the disciple who testifies of these things, and wrote these things; and we know that his testimony is true.
\n25<\/sup> And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen.<\/p>\n

Wednesday<\/strong> Acts <\/strong>1:1-12\u00a0\u00a0 *The Ascension
\nThe former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, 2<\/sup> until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen, 3<\/sup> to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.
\n4<\/sup> And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, \u201cwhich,\u201d He said, \u201cyou have heard from Me; 5<\/sup> for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.\u201d 6<\/sup> Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, \u201cLord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?\u201d 7<\/sup> And He said to them, \u201cIt is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8<\/sup> But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.\u201d
\n9<\/sup> Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10<\/sup> And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11<\/sup> who also said, \u201cMen of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.\u201d
\n12<\/sup> Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day\u2019s journey.<\/p>\n

Verses 1-6<\/p>\n

Have mercy upon me, O God,
\nAccording to Your lovingkindness;
\nAccording to the multitude of Your tender mercies,
\nBlot out my transgressions.
\n2\u00a0<\/sup>Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
\nAnd cleanse me from my sin.<\/p>\n

3\u00a0<\/sup>For I acknowledge my transgressions,
\nAnd my sin is<\/em> always before me.
\n4\u00a0<\/sup>Against You, You only, have I sinned,
\nAnd done this<\/em> evil in Your sight\u2014
\nThat You may be found just when You speak,[a<\/a>]<\/sup>
\nAnd<\/em> blameless when You judge.<\/p>\n

5\u00a0<\/sup>Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity,
\nAnd in sin my mother conceived me.
\nThis establishes that because of our ‘original sin’…the inclination to sin inherited from Adam…we do what is wrong.\u00a0 But, regardless of who the sin is directed against\u00a0 (harming ourselves or others), God as our creator and the creator of all men is the one we truly are sinning against.<\/p>\n

Psalm 50 6-12<\/p>\n

Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts,
\nAnd in the hidden part<\/em> You will make me to know wisdom.<\/p>\n

7\u00a0<\/sup>Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
\nWash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
\n8\u00a0<\/sup>Make me hear joy and gladness,
\nThat<\/em> the bones You have broken may rejoice.
\n9\u00a0<\/sup>Hide Your face from my sins,
\nAnd blot out all my iniquities.<\/p>\n

10\u00a0<\/sup>Create in me a clean heart, O God,
\nAnd renew a steadfast spirit within me.
\n11\u00a0<\/sup>Do not cast me away from Your presence,
\nAnd do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.<\/p>\n

12\u00a0<\/sup>Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,
\nAnd uphold me by Your<\/em> generous Spirit.<\/p>\n

This acknowledges that God will use ‘negative reinforcement’ to motivate us to first, see our sin, and then secondly, to turn to him for forgiveness and relief.\u00a0 Because we sin a long time sometimes the punishment takes a long time, not to be vindictive, but to impress on us the need to avoid sin in the future.\u00a0 This also acknowledges that all we can do is seen forgiveness…we are forgiven and transformed\u00a0 (‘clean heart’) through God’s direct action of grace in our soul.<\/p>\n

Verses 13-19<\/p>\n

Then<\/em> I will teach transgressors Your ways,
\nAnd sinners shall be converted to You.<\/p>\n

14\u00a0<\/sup>Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God,
\nThe God of my salvation,
\nAnd<\/em> my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness.
\n15\u00a0<\/sup>O Lord, open my lips,
\nAnd my mouth shall show forth Your praise.
\n16\u00a0<\/sup>For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it;<\/em>
\nYou do not delight in burnt offering.
\n17\u00a0<\/sup>The sacrifices of God are<\/em> a broken spirit,
\nA broken and a contrite heart\u2014
\nThese, O God, You will not despise.<\/p>\n

18\u00a0<\/sup>Do good in Your good pleasure to Zion;
\nBuild the walls of Jerusalem.
\n19\u00a0<\/sup>Then You shall be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness,
\nWith burnt offering and whole burnt offering;
\nThen they shall offer bulls on Your altar.
\nThe ‘clean heart’\u00a0 allows us to help or ‘convert’ others through out words but moreso through our example that they see.\u00a0 The true sacrifice to God, Old and New Testament, has always been love and humility towards the Lord.\u00a0\u00a0 The Church understands and applies references to ‘Jerusalem’ to but the Church itself in the era in which we live thought in the Old Testament time its meaning was the nation of Israel whose capital was Jerusalem.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
