{"id":252,"date":"2015-05-19T00:33:30","date_gmt":"2015-05-19T00:33:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/orthodoxinsight.com\/?p=252"},"modified":"2015-05-19T00:33:30","modified_gmt":"2015-05-19T00:33:30","slug":"tuesday-may-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orthodoxinsight.com\/?p=252","title":{"rendered":"Tuesday, May 19"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #165916;\"><strong>Orthodox Daily Devotional<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Scripture Reading<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>JOHN 9: <sup>35\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when He had found him, He said to him, \u201cDo you believe in the Son of God?\u201d<sup>36\u00a0<\/sup>He answered and said, \u201cWho is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?\u201d<sup>37\u00a0<\/sup>And Jesus said to him, \u201cYou have both seen Him and it is He who is talking with you.\u201d <sup>38\u00a0<\/sup>Then he said, \u201cLord, I believe!\u201d And he worshiped Him.<sup>39\u00a0<\/sup>And Jesus said, \u201cFor judgment I have come into this world, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may be made blind.\u201d <sup>40\u00a0<\/sup>Then <em>some<\/em> of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, \u201cAre we blind also?\u201d<sup>41\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus said to them, \u201cIf you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, \u2018We see.\u2019 Therefore your sin remains.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Orthodox\u00a0Wisdom<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>When the man, his soul still unenlightened, answered, \u201cWho is he, Lord, that I may believe on him?\u201d the Lord\u2019s reply was, \u201cYou have both seen him, and it is he that speaks with you.\u201d For his goal was to remove the ignorance of the man whose sight he had restored and whom he was now enriching with the knowledge of so glorious a faith. Does the Lord demand from this man, as from others who entreated him to heal them, a confession of faith as the price of their recovery? Emphatically not! For the blind man could already see when he was thus addressed.
