{"id":267,"date":"2015-05-24T20:29:24","date_gmt":"2015-05-25T00:29:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/orthodoxinsight.com\/?p=267"},"modified":"2015-05-23T21:29:38","modified_gmt":"2015-05-24T01:29:38","slug":"monday-may-25","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orthodoxinsight.com\/?p=267","title":{"rendered":"Monday, May 25"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #165916;\"><strong>Orthodox Daily Devotional<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Scripture Reading<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>JOHN 8: <sup>13\u00a0<\/sup>The Pharisees therefore said to Him, \u201cYou bear witness of Yourself; Your witness is not true.\u201d\u00a0<sup>14\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus answered and said to them, \u201cEven if I bear witness of Myself, My witness is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from and where I am going. <sup>15\u00a0<\/sup>You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one. <sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>And yet if I do judge, My judgment is true; for I am not alone, but I <em>am<\/em> with the Father who sent Me. <sup>17\u00a0<\/sup>It is also written in your law that the testimony of two men is true. <sup>18\u00a0<\/sup>I am One who bears witness of Myself, and the Father who sent Me bears witness of Me.\u201d <sup>19\u00a0<\/sup>Then they said to Him, \u201cWhere is Your Father?\u201dJesus answered, \u201cYou know neither Me nor My Father. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also.\u201d <sup>20\u00a0<\/sup>These words Jesus spoke in the treasury, as He taught in the temple; and no one laid hands on Him, for His hour had not yet come.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Orthodox\u00a0Wisdom<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>This question may be solved in two ways: I judge no man, that is, I do not judge him now. He says this elsewhere: \u201cGod sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved.\u201d It is not that he abandons his justice but rather only defers it. Or, having said, \u201cYou judge according to the flesh,\u201d he says immediately, \u201cI judge no man.\u201d He adds this to let you know that Christ does not judge according to the flesh, as people judged him. Therefore let no scruple of doubt remain in our heart against the faith that we hold and declare concerning Christ as judge.
