For which of those works do you stone Me?\u201d<sup>33\u00a0<\/sup>The Jews answered Him, saying, \u201cFor a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God.\u201d <sup>34\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus answered them, \u201cIs it not written in your law, \u2018I said, \u201cYou are gods\u201d\u2019? <sup>35\u00a0<\/sup>If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken), <sup>36\u00a0<\/sup>do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, \u2018You are blaspheming,\u2019 because I said, \u2018I am the Son of God\u2019? <sup>37\u00a0<\/sup>If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; <sup>38\u00a0<\/sup>but if I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father <em>is<\/em> in Me, and I in Him.\u201d \u00a0<sup>39\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore they sought again to seize Him, but He escaped out of their hand.<sup>40\u00a0<\/sup>And He went away again beyond the Jordan to the place where John was baptizing at first, and there He stayed. <sup>41\u00a0<\/sup>Then many came to Him and said, \u201cJohn performed no sign, but all the things that John spoke about this Man were true.\u201d \u00a0<sup>42\u00a0<\/sup>And many believed in Him there.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Orthodox\u00a0Wisdom<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Jew says, \u201cYou being a man\u201d; you [Arians] say, \u201cYou being a creature.\u201d You both join in the cry, \u201cYou make yourself God,\u201d with the same insolence of blasphemy. You deny that he is God begotten of God; you deny that he is the Son by a true birth; you deny that his words \u201cI and the Father are one\u201d contain the assertion of one and the same nature in both. You foist upon us instead a modern, strange, alien god.
