MATTHEW 22 And Jesus answered and spoke to them again by parables and said: 2\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cThe kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son, 3\u00a0<\/sup>and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; and they were not willing to come. 4\u00a0<\/sup>Again, he sent out other servants, saying, \u2018Tell those who are invited, \u201cSee, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatted cattle are<\/em> killed, and all things are<\/em> ready. Come to the wedding.\u201d\u2019 5\u00a0<\/sup>But they made light of it and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his business. 6\u00a0<\/sup>And the rest seized his servants, treated them<\/em> spitefully, and killed them.<\/em> 7\u00a0<\/sup>But when the king heard about it,<\/em> he was furious. And he sent out his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. 8\u00a0<\/sup>Then he said to his servants, \u2018The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. 9\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding.\u2019 10\u00a0<\/sup>So those servants went out into the highways and gathered together all whom they found, both bad and good. And the wedding hall<\/em> was filled with guests. 11\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cBut when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment. 12\u00a0<\/sup>So he said to him, \u2018Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?\u2019 And he was speechless. 13\u00a0<\/sup>Then the king said to the servants, \u2018Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and[<\/sup>a<\/sup><\/a>]<\/sup> cast him<\/em> into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.\u201914\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cFor many are called, but few are<\/em> chosen.\u201d<\/p>\n

“Many are called,” that is, God is calling many, more precisely, all but “few are chosen”, a little fleeing worthy of God’s elect. \u00a0God depends on the election, but be elected or not – this is our business. \u00a0The Lord gives these words to the Jews know what to say about them a parable: they have been called, but not chosen as naughty.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
