{"id":837,"date":"2015-08-07T20:18:54","date_gmt":"2015-08-08T00:18:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/orthodoxinsight.com\/?p=837"},"modified":"2015-08-04T20:42:15","modified_gmt":"2015-08-05T00:42:15","slug":"saturday-august-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orthodoxinsight.com\/?p=837","title":{"rendered":"Saturday, August 8"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MATTHEW 22 <sup>34\u00a0<\/sup>But when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. <sup>35\u00a0<\/sup>Then one of them, a lawyer, asked <em>Him a question,<\/em> testing Him, and saying, <sup>36\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cTeacher, which <em>is<\/em> the great commandment in the law?\u201d<sup>37\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus said to him, \u201c\u2018You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.\u2019 <sup>38\u00a0<\/sup>This is <em>the<\/em> first and great commandment. <sup>39\u00a0<\/sup>And <em>the<\/em> second <em>is<\/em> like it: \u2018You shall love your neighbor as yourself.\u2019 <sup>40\u00a0<\/sup>On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.\u201d<sup>41\u00a0<\/sup>While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, <sup>42\u00a0<\/sup>saying, \u201cWhat do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He?\u201dThey said to Him, \u201c<em>The Son<\/em> of David.\u201d<sup>43\u00a0<\/sup>He said to them, \u201cHow then does David in the Spirit call Him \u2018Lord,\u2019 saying:<sup>44\u00a0<\/sup>\u2018The Lord said to my Lord,\u201cSit at My right hand,Till I make Your enemies Your footstool\u201d\u2019? <sup>45\u00a0<\/sup>If David then calls Him \u2018Lord,\u2019 how is He his Son?\u201d <sup>46\u00a0<\/sup>And no one was able to answer Him a word, nor from that day on did anyone dare question Him anymore.<\/p>\n<p>From the prophecies of David, He reveals the truth that He is &#8211; the Lord will show them His divinity. The Pharisees said that the Christ is the son of David, that is a simple man. But the Lord replies: &#8220;How then does David call him Lord&#8221; &#8211; not just calls the Lord, for &#8220;by inspiration,&#8221; that is, by the gift of grace of the Spirit, received the revelation of Him. With these words, the Lord did not deny that he &#8211; the son of David, but reveals that he is not just a man descended from the seed of David.
