{"id":917,"date":"2015-08-23T20:14:03","date_gmt":"2015-08-24T00:14:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/orthodoxinsight.com\/?p=917"},"modified":"2015-08-15T21:16:04","modified_gmt":"2015-08-16T01:16:04","slug":"monday-august-24","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orthodoxinsight.com\/?p=917","title":{"rendered":"Monday, August 24"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MATTHEW 26 <sup>26\u00a0<\/sup>And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke <em>it,<\/em> and gave <em>it<\/em> to the disciples and said, \u201cTake, eat; this is My body.\u201d<sup>27\u00a0<\/sup>Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave <em>it<\/em> to them, saying, \u201cDrink from it, all of you. <sup>28\u00a0<\/sup>For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. <sup>29\u00a0<\/sup>But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father\u2019s kingdom.\u201d<sup>30\u00a0<\/sup>And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.<sup>31\u00a0<\/sup>Then Jesus said to them, \u201cAll of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written:\u2018I will strike the Shepherd, And the sheep of the flock will be scattered.\u2019<sup>32\u00a0<\/sup>But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee.\u201d<sup>33\u00a0<\/sup>Peter answered and said to Him, \u201cEven if all are made to stumble because of You, I will never be made to stumble.\u201d<sup>34\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus said to him, \u201cAssuredly, I say to you that this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.\u201d<sup>35\u00a0<\/sup>Peter said to Him, \u201cEven if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!\u201dAnd so said all the disciples.<\/p>\n<p>By saying, \u201cThis is My Body,\u201d He shows that the bread which is sanctified on the altar is the Lord\u2019s Body Itself, and not a symbolic type. For He did not say, \u201cThis is a type,\u201d but \u201cThis is My Body.\u201d By an ineffable action it is changed, although it may appear to us as bread.
