{"id":9368,"date":"2021-01-23T20:13:55","date_gmt":"2021-01-24T01:13:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/orthodoxinsight.com\/?p=9368"},"modified":"2021-01-22T20:27:04","modified_gmt":"2021-01-23T01:27:04","slug":"daily-devotional-for-january-24-30","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orthodoxinsight.com\/?p=9368","title":{"rendered":"Daily Devotional for January 24-30"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sunday<\/p>\n<p>Luke 10:\u00a0After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also,* and sent them two by two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go. 2 \u00a0 Then He said to them, \u201cThe harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. 3Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves. 4Carry neither money bag, knapsack, nor sandals; and greet no one along the road. 5But whatever house you enter, first say, \u2018Peace to this house.\u2019 6And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on it; if not, it will return to you. 7And remain in the same house, eating and drinking such things as they\u00a0give, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not go from house to house. 8Whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you. 9And heal the sick there, and say to them, \u2018The kingdom of God has come near to you.\u2019 10But whatever city you enter, and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say, 11\u2018 The very dust of your city which clings to us* we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near you.\u2019 12But* I say to you that it will be more tolerable in that Day for Sodom than for that city. 13\u201c Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. 14But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. 15And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades.* 16He who hears you hears Me, he who rejects you rejects Me, and he who rejects Me rejects Him who sent Me.\u201d 17 \u00a0 Then the seventy* returned with joy, saying, \u201cLord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.\u201d 18 \u00a0 And He said to them, \u201cI saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather* rejoice because your names are written in heaven.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prayer:<br \/>\nWe adore Thee O Christ and we bless Thee for by Thy Holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world.<\/p>\n<p>Monday<br \/>\nLuke 10:21 \u00a0 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said, \u201cI thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight. 22All* things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then He turned to His disciples and said privately, \u201cBlessed are the eyes which see the things you see; 24for I tell you that many prophets and kings have desired to see what you see, and have not seen it, and to hear what you hear, and have not heard it.\u201d\u00a0 \u00a0And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, \u201cTeacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?\u201d 26 \u00a0 He said to him, \u201cWhat is written in the law? What is your reading of it?\u201d 27 \u00a0 So he answered and said, \u201c \u2018You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,\u2019* and \u2018your neighbor as yourself.\u2019 \u201d* 28 \u00a0 And He said to him, \u201cYou have answered rightly; do this and you will live.\u201d 29 \u00a0 But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, \u201cAnd who is my neighbor?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Prayer:<br \/>\nLet the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight O Lord my strength and my redeemer<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday<br \/>\nLuke 10:30\u00a0Then Jesus answered and said: \u201cA certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 31Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. 33But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. 34So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35On the next day, when he departed,* he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, \u2018Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.\u2019 36So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?\u201d 37 \u00a0 And he said, \u201cHe who showed mercy on him.\u201d\u00a0Then Jesus said to him, \u201cGo and do likewise.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Prayer:<br \/>\nO Lord come to my assistance, O Lord make haste to help me.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday<br \/>\nLulke 10:Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. 39 \u00a0 And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus\u2019* feet and heard His word. 40 \u00a0 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, \u201cLord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.\u201d 41 \u00a0 And Jesus* answered and said to her, \u201cMartha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prayer:<\/p>\n<p>Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.<br \/>\nThursday<br \/>\nLuke 11:\u00a0Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, \u201cLord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.\u201d 2 \u00a0 So He said to them, \u201cWhen you pray, say: \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Our Father in heaven,* \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Hallowed be Your name. \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Your kingdom come.* \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Your will be done \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 On earth as it is in heaven. \u00a0 \u00a0 3 Give us day by day our daily bread. \u00a0 \u00a0 4 And forgive us our sins, \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.\u00a0\u00a0And do not lead us into temptation, \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 But deliver us from the evil one.\u201d* 5 \u00a0 And He said to them, \u201cWhich of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, \u2018Friend, lend me three loaves; 6for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him\u2019; 7and he will answer from within and say, \u2018Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you\u2019? 8I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs. 9\u201c So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 11If a son asks for bread* from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? 12Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Prayer:<br \/>\nHoly, Holy, Holy Lord God of Hosts, the whole earth is filled with Thy Glory.<\/p>\n<p>Friday<br \/>\nLuke 11:And He was casting out a demon, and it was mute. So it was, when the demon had gone out, that the mute spoke; and the multitudes marveled. 15 \u00a0 But some of them said, \u201cHe casts out demons by Beelzebub,* the ruler of the demons.\u201d 16 \u00a0 Others, testing Him, sought from Him a sign from heaven. 17 \u00a0 But He, knowing their thoughts, said to them: \u201cEvery kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and a house divided against a house falls. 18If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? Because you say I cast out demons by Beelzebub. 19And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out?
