\nPsalm 50\u00a0 (David’s prayer of repentance…spread out over several nights for the start of Lent)<\/p>\n
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.<\/span><\/p>\n 2\u00a0<\/sup>Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.<\/span><\/p>\n 3\u00a0<\/sup>For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.<\/span><\/p>\n 4\u00a0<\/sup>Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.<\/span><\/p>\n 5\u00a0<\/sup>Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.<\/span><\/p>\n 6\u00a0<\/sup>Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.<\/span><\/p>\n 7\u00a0<\/sup>Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.<\/span><\/p>\n Prayer:\u00a0 We fly to thy patronage, O holy Mother of God; despise not our petitions in our necessities, but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen. <\/p>\n Monday 7\u00a0<\/sup>Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.<\/span><\/p>\n 8\u00a0<\/sup>Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.<\/span><\/p>\n 9\u00a0<\/sup>Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.<\/span><\/p>\n 10\u00a0<\/sup>Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.<\/span><\/p>\n 11\u00a0<\/sup>Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.<\/span><\/p>\n 12\u00a0<\/sup>Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.<\/span><\/p>\n 13\u00a0<\/sup>Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.<\/span><\/p>\n 14\u00a0<\/sup>Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.<\/span><\/p>\n Prayer:<\/p>\n O Lord and Master of my life, a spirit of idleness, despondency, ambition, and idle talking give me not.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Tuesday 15\u00a0<\/sup>O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.<\/span><\/p>\n 16\u00a0<\/sup>For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.<\/span><\/p>\n 17\u00a0<\/sup>The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.<\/span><\/p>\n 18\u00a0<\/sup>Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.<\/span><\/p>\n 19\u00a0<\/sup>Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.<\/span><\/p>\n Prayer:<\/p>\n But rather a spirit of chastity, humble-mindedness, patience, and love bestow upon me Thy servant.<\/p>\n Yea, O Lord King, grant me to see my failings and not condemn my brother; for blessed art Thou unto the ages of ages. Amen.<\/p>\n Wednesday Blessed is he whose<\/i> transgression is<\/i> forgiven,<\/span><\/span> 3\u00a0<\/sup>When I kept silent, my bones grew old<\/span> Prayer:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Yea, O Lord King, grant me to see my failings and not condemn my brother; for blessed art Thou unto the ages of ages. Amen.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Thursday For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You<\/span> 8\u00a0<\/sup>I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;<\/span> 10\u00a0<\/sup>Many sorrows shall be<\/i> to the wicked;<\/span> Prayer:\u00a0 O Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us.
