“What holds the church together is the holy Eucharist, communion in the Body and Blood of Christ. That is the essential thing that the Church does and which nobody and nothing else can do. And I think it is the Divine Liturgy which is the foundation of unity within each Orthodox church and between the different Orthodox churches. So, we do not look to the secular state to keep us together. It is the Holy Mysteries which hold us in unity.”
