1 Corinthians 13, 1-13. Brethren, if I speak with the tongues of men and of Angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal. And if I should have prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I should have all faith, so that I could remove nountains, arid have not charity, I am nothing. And if I should distribute all my goods t6 feed the poor, and if I should deliver my body to be burned, and have riot charity, it profiteth me nothing.
Charity is patient^ is kind: charity envieth not; dealeth not perversely; is not puffed up; is not ambitious; seeketh not her own; is not pro¬voked to anger; thinketh no evil; rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, en- dureth all things. Charity never falleth away: whether prophecies shall be made void, or tongues shall cease, or knowledge shall be de¬stroyed.
For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is,come, that which is in part shall be done away. When, I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child ; but when ,1 became a man, I put away the things of a child. We see
now through a glass in a dark manner; but then face to face. Now I know in part; but then I shall know even as I am known. And now there remain faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
Prayer: We fly to thy patronage, O holy Mother of God; despise not our petitions in our necessities, but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.

Monday
Joel 2, 12-19. Thus saith the Lord, Be con¬verted to me with all your heart, in fasting, and in weeping, and in mourning. And rend your hearts and not your garments, and turn to the Lord your God; for he is gracious and merciful, patient and rich in mercy, and ready to repent of the evil. Who knoweth but he will return, and forgive, and leave a blessing behind him, sacrifice and libation to the Lord your God Blow the trumpet in Sion: sanctify a fast; call a solemn assembly; gather together the people, sanctify the Church; assemble the ancients; gather together the little ones; and them that suck at the breasts; let the bridegroom go forth from his bed, and the bride out of her bride- chamber. Between the porch and the altar the priests, the Lord’s ministers, shall weep; and shall say, Spare, O Lord, spare thy people; and give hot thine inheritance to reproach, that the heathens should rule over them. Why should they say among the nations, Where is their God? The Lord hath been zealous for his land, and hath spared his people. And the Lord answered, and said to his people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and you shall be filled with them; and I will no more make you a re¬proach among the nations saith the Lord Al¬mighty.
Prayer: Holy angel of the Lord by guardian, pray to God for me.
Tuesday
[Old Testament reading] Isaias 38. 1-6. In those days, Ezechias was sick even to death; and Isaias the son of Amos the prophet came unto him, and said to him, Thus saith the Lord, Take order with thy house, for thou shalt die, and not live. And Ezechias turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the Lord, and said, I beseech thee, O Lord, re¬member how I have walked before thee in truth, and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Ezechias wept with great weeping. And the word of the Lord came to Isaias, saying, Go, and say to Ezechias, Thus saith the Lord the God of David thy father, I have lheard thy prayer and I have seen thy tears: behold I will add to thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of the Assyrians, and I will protect it; saith the Lord Almighty.
Prayer: Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed by Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Wednesday
Isaias 58. 1- . Thus saith the Lord God: Cry, cease not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and show my people their, wicked doings, and the house of Jacob their sins. For they seek me from day to day, and desire to know my ways, as a nation that hath done justice, and hath not forsaken the judgment of their God: they ask of me the judgments of justice: they are willing to approach to God. Why have we fasted, and thou hast not regarded: have we humbled our souls, and thou hast not taken notice? Behold in the day of your fast your own will is found, and you exact of all your debtors. Behold you fast for debates and strife, and strike with the fist wickedly. Do not fast as you have done until this day to make your cry to be heard on high. Is this such a fast as I have chosen: for a man to afflict his soul for a day? Is this it, to wind his head about like a circle, and to spread sackcloth and ashes? Wilt.thou call this a fast, and a day acceptable to the Lord?
Prayer: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Thursday
Isaias 58 cont. Is not this rather the fast that I have chosen ? Loose the bands of wickedness, undo the bundles that oppress, let them that are broken go free, and break asunder every burden. Deal thy bread to the hungry, and bring the harborless into thy house: what thou shalt see one naked, cover him, and despise not thy own flesh. Then shall thy light break forth as the morning and thy health shall speedily arise, and thy justice shall go before thv face, and the glory of the Lord shall gather them up. Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall hear: thou shalt cry, and he shall say: Here I am. Because I the Lord thy God am merciful.
Prayer: O Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us. O Lord, blot out our sins. O Master, pardon our iniquities. O Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities for Thy name’s sake.
Friday
Isaias 58. 9-14. Thus saith the Lord God, If thou wilt take away the chain out of the midst of thee, and cease to stretch out the finger, and to speak that which profiteth not. When thou shalt pour out thy soul to the hungry, and shalt satisfy the afflicted soul, then shall thy light rise up in darkness, and thy darkness shall be as the noon¬day. And the Lord will give thee rest contin¬ually, and fill thy soul with brightness, and deliver thy bones; and thou shalt be like a watered gar¬den, and like a fountain of water, whose waters shall not fail. And the places that have been desolate for ages shall be built, in thee ;’thou shalt raise up the foundations .of generation and generation; and thou shalt be called the repairer of the fences, turning the paths into rest. If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy own will in my holy day, and call the sabbath delightful, and the holy of the Lord glorious, and glorify him, While thou dost not thy own ways, and thy own will is not found, to speak a word; then shalt thou be delighted in the Lord, and I will lift thee above the high places of the earth, and will feed thee with the inherit¬ance of Jacob thy father. For the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it
Prayer: O my God relying on Thy infinite goodness and promises, I hope to obtain pardon of my sins, the help of Thy grace, and life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer.
*Act of Hope
Saturday
2 Corinthians 6, 1-10. Brethren, we exhort you that you receive not the grace of God in vain. For he saith, In an accepted time have I heard thee, and in the day of salvation have I helped thee. Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation. Giving no offence to any man, that our ministry be not blamed: but in all things let us exhibit ourselves as the ministers of God: in much patience, in tribulations, in necessities, in distresses, in stripes, in prisons, in seditions, in labors, in watchings, in fastings,’in chastity, in knowledge, in longsuffering, in sweetness, in the Holy Ghost, in charity unfeigned, in the word of truth, in the power of God: by the armor of justice on the right hand and on the left, by honor and dis¬honor, by evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet true; as unknown, and yet known; as dying, and behold we live; as chas¬tised, and not killed; as sofrowful, yet always rejoicing; as needy, yet enriching many ; as hav¬ing nothing, and possessing all things.
Glory to Jesus Christ – Glory forever!
