Martyr Hyacinth:  Hyacinth was appointed chamberlain to the Roman Emperor Trajan.  Upon discovering he was a Christian, he was tortured and thrown into prison and given only food and drink which had been sacrificed to idols.  He died after 30 days or repeated torture and starvation rather than eat the defiled food.  He was 12 years old.   And we complain about fasting on select foods?
