Royal Martyrs of Russia:  Tsar Nicholas and his family were martyred by the Bolsheviks in Russia on this day in 1918.  While many facets of their lives are noteworthy, their choice to education their children at home, separated from the worldly and  licentious lifestyle of the St. Petersburg court makes them a worthy candidate to be patrons of homeschooling.  In this they are a timeless example of what parents should do.
