St. Paul of Xeropotamou:  we often think that becoming a monastic was easier in the past when most people did not have much materially and so there was not that much to ‘give up’ to enter a monastery.  St. Paul is one of many examples that this was not true.  He was the son of the Byzantine Emperor, lived in a palace with all comforts and had a promising career ahead.  But, he saw the eternal kingdom was a more valuable goal for his life….what about you?
