Translation of the Icon ‘Not Made with Hands’:  the miraculous image of the face of the Lord sent to the king of Edessa by Christ Himself was preserved and venerated for almost 900 years before being taken to Constantinople (today’s feast event).  However, if was under Moslem control for almost 300 years and was never harmed by them.  This should give us trust in the Lord to preserve us even in the most devastating circumstances of life.
