Sunday

Luke 9: Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. 2   He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. 3   And He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey, neither staffs nor bag nor bread nor money; and do not have two tunics apiece. 4“ Whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart. 5And whoever will not receive you, when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet as a testimony against them.” 6   So they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.  Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by Him; and he was perplexed, because it was said by some that John had risen from the dead, 8   and by some that Elijah had appeared, and by others that one of the old prophets had risen again. 9   Herod said, “John I have beheaded, but who is this of whom I hear such things?” So he sought to see Him.

Prayer:  O Lord, our God, in Thy goodness and love for men forgive me all the sins I have committed today in word, deed or thought. Grant me peaceful and undisturbed sleep. Send Thy Guardian Angel to guard and protect me from all evil. For Thou art the guardian of our souls and bodies, and to Thee we ascribe glory, to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.
*(Evening Prayer and Confession of Sins)

Monday
Matthew 14:  At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the report about Jesus 2   and said to his servants, “This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead, and therefore these powers are at work in him.” 3   For Herod had laid hold of John and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife. 4   Because John had said to him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.” 5   And although he wanted to put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet. 6   But when Herod’s birthday was celebrated, the daughter of Herodias danced before them and pleased Herod. 7   Therefore he promised with an oath to give her whatever she might ask. 8   So she, having been prompted by her mother, said, “Give me John the Baptist’s head here on a  platter.” 9   And the king was sorry; nevertheless, because of the oaths and because of those who sat with him, he commanded it to be given to her. 10   So he sent and had John beheaded in prison. 11   And his head was brought on a platter and given to the girl, and she brought it to her mother. 12   Then his disciples came and took away the body and buried it, and went and told Jesus.

Prayer:  O come, let us worship God our King.
O come, let us worship and fall down before Christ our King and God.
O come, let us worship and fall down before Christ Himself, our King and God.

Tuesday
Matthew 14:13   When Jesus heard it, He departed from there by boat to a deserted place by Himself. But when the multitudes heard it, they followed Him on foot from the cities. 14   And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick. 15   When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food.” 16   But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” 17   And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.” 18   He said, “Bring them here to Me.” 19   Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. 20   So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained. 21   Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

Prayer:  Soul of Christ, sanctify me, Body of Christ, save me Blood of Christ, inebriate me, Water from Christ’s side, wash me, Passion of Christ, strengthen me, O good Jesus, hear me, Within Thy wounds hide me, Suffer me not to be separated from Thee, From the malicious enemy defend me, In the hour of my death call me, And bid me come unto Thee, That I may praise Thee with Thy saints, and with Thy angels, Forever and ever, Amen.

Wednesday
Matthew 14:22   Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. 23   And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. 24   But the boat was  now in the middle of the sea,* tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary. 25   Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. 26   And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. 27   But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” 28   And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” 29   So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30   But when he saw that the wind was boisterous,* he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” 31   And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32   And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. 33   Then those who were in the boat came and* worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.”

Prayer:  Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.  Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Thursday
Matthew 14: 34   When they had crossed over, they came to the land of* Gennesaret. 35   And when the men of that place recognized Him, they sent out into all that surrounding region, brought to Him all who were sick, 36   and begged Him that they might only touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched it were made perfectly well.

Friday
John 6: 22   On the following day, when the people who were standing on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there, except that one which His disciples had entered,* and that Jesus had not entered the boat with His disciples, but His disciples had gone away alone— 23   however, other boats came from Tiberias, near the place where they ate bread after the Lord had given thanks— 24   when the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, nor His disciples, they also got into boats and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus. 25   And when they found Him on the other side of the sea, they said to Him, “Rabbi, when did You come here?” 26   Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. 27Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.” 28   Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” 29   Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.” 30   Therefore they said to Him, “What sign will You perform then, that we may see it and believe You? What work will You do? 31   Our fathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ ”* 32   Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. 33For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” 34   Then they said to Him, “Lord, give us this bread always.”

Prayer:  With the Saints, give rest, O Christ, to the souls of Thy servants, where there is no pain, no sorrow, no sighing, but life everlasting.

Saturday
Jphn 6 cont…35   And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. 36But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe. 37All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. 38For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. 39This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. 40And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” 41   The Jews then complained about Him, because He said, “I am the bread which came down from heaven.” 42   And they said, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How is it then that He says, ‘I have come down from heaven’?” 43   Jesus therefore answered and said to them, “Do not murmur among yourselves. 44No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. 45It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’* Therefore everyone who has heard and learned* from the Father comes to Me. 46Not that anyone has seen the Father, except He who is from God; He has seen the Father. 47Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me* has everlasting life. 48I am the bread of life. 49Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. 50This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. 51I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.” 52   The Jews therefore quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?” 53   Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. 54Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. 55For My flesh is food indeed,* and My blood is drink indeed. 56He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. 57As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. 58This is the bread which came down from heaven— not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.” 59   These things He said in the synagogue as He taught in Capernaum.

Prayer:  Lord, I have cried to Thee, hearken unto me. Hearken unto me, O Lord. Lord, I have cried to Thee, hearken unto me.  Attend to the voice of my prayer, when I cry unto Thee. Hearken unto me, O Lord. Let my prayer be set forth as incense before Thee, the lifting up of my hands as an evening sacrifice.  Hearken unto me, O Lord.
